Dairy Queen - Rotisserie-style Chicken Bites Dairy Queen ![]() We hit fried nuggets, grilled nuggets, new nuggies on the scene, and even ate some chicken that was in questionable shape - Burger King’s Chicken Fries and White Castle’s very weird Chicken Rings - in order to give the most comprehensive picture of what’s out there and what’s worth eating. We took our original nugget ranking from last year, which topped out at 16, and added 5 new nuggets to the list, re-tasted each and re-ranked them. So today we’re celebrating the mighty nugget by ranking every fast food chicken nugget we could get our hands on in search of the GOAT. Now, in 2022, almost every major chain in the vast landscape of fast food has a chicken nugget on the menu and we’ve come such a long way from the nuggets of the 80s, which were full of nerves, skeletal muscle, and who knows what else, that the vintage stuff would fall right out of our top 20 (but not below DQ). When McDonald’s introduced the Chicken McNugget in 1983, it started a love affair with boneless processed chicken that would change the landscape of fast food forever. Maybe that's because, like most of you reading this, we didn't know about them.These days it’s always “chicken sandwich this, chicken sandwich that.” But what about the nugget? The chicken nugget is as integral to fast food as the cheeseburger and French fries. Townsquare Media websites have produced stories about the infamous Popeye's Chicken sandwich, the demise of a popular Popeye's buffet at one Lafayette location and our content creators have written numerous articles about Popeye's rival chicken sandwiches but we've never mentioned the nuggets. That's how serious I am about these chunks of real chicken deliciousness. I am so impressed with Popeye's chicken nuggets that I have asked our company, Townsquare Media, to reach out to Popeye's so that I might become the local spokesperson for Popeye's nuggets. The reason I tell you the story about the Yellow Bowl's fried shrimp back in the day is because the batter on the Popeye's chicken nuggets comes really close to that of the Yellow Bowl's over 40 years ago. He once told me he had never seen someone my age (about 8 years old) eat so many shrimp at one time. Roberts would come to sit at the table with my parents and me just to watch me eat the fried shrimp. Forget everything you know about the fast-food chicken nugget.įor those of you old enough to remember when Tony Roberts owned the Yellow Bowl restaurant back in the 70s and 80s, remember the batter on the fried shrimp? The batter was so delicious. I recently discovered chicken nuggets from Popeye's and I can't say enough about them. It doesn't matter if the product or service comes from a sponsor of the CJ and Ellen in the Morning show or not. I like to share my experience with our community on the radio. But, as we found out recently, not a ton of people know about Popeye's chicken nuggets.Īnytime I find something amazing, extremely good service I received someplace, a great deal that saves the KTDY audience money, etc. Unless you've been under a rock, you know about Popeye's chicken sandwich.
